Do I have to use accounting software for my books?
No, however many tax preparers and lenders prefer and may require it. Not to mention - having countless accurate reports at your fingertips is valuable for running a business.

Do I really need to upgrade my software with every release?
Depends. Small businesses that use the software for basic income & expense tracking do not need to upgrade every year. But, if you use the software's on-line banking link-up, payroll, merchant services, etc. then staying current is important for the modular to work properly. Check with the software company to verify that the version you are using is still supported, as some are 'dropped' as they age out.

I do my own bookkeeping but I'm not sure if it's correct. Can you help?

I have an admin person doing the day to day entries but need someone to keep us on track throughout the year. What do you suggest?
In this case, we suggest having a professional bookkeeper monitor the entries and reconcile accounts. Depending on your business volume, we can schedule weekly, monthly or quarterly service.

My tax accountant said I need to track my business better. How?
We strongly suggest using an accounting software program, such as QuickBooks® , to track your business transactions. Hiring a professional bookkeeper to set-up and monitor your books will give you a better view of your business all year.

When do I file my estimated income taxes?
Your first estimated tax payment is usually due the 15th of April.
You may pay the entire year's estimated tax at that time, or
You may pay your estimated tax in four payments that are due April 15th, June 15th, September 15th, and January 15th of the following year.
If the due date for making an estimated tax payment falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, the payment will be on time if you make it on the next day that is not a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday.
